Just got my iPhone 3g yesterday (pg. 2)

So if you buy it in the apple store you dont need a contract if you unlock it? And if you do can you take it to other people like tmobil to get it working or what?
I have nver understood the unlock thing. |

I'm like you guys, pessimistic when it comes to everything (sarcasm)! Anyways, this phone is very solid and fun. I've owned 2 PDA's for the last 4 years and this, by far, is the most amazing. It's def. worth its price and you cannot go wrong with Apple's customer care.

The US versions can not be unlocked as of yet. Reason being, is that neither Apple nor AT&T will distribute unlock codes. If you want a 3g version off AT&T you have 2 options. Buy one from one of the other 50 countries that has them, or buy a TurboSIM that you must use in conjunction with your regular SIM.
Also, there are 2 types of unlocks. There are SIM locks and network locks. You can lock it to a specific provider, SIM, or both. Most just do SIM locks, as they are easy to remove when necessary and are easy to implement. |

The android sounds cool, but it's lack of memory is a huge drawback. If it had some internal GB storage I'd be down to give it a try.
Iphone haters are even more gay then the fan boys.
I like my iphone, enough to overlook it's short comings which aren't that big of a deal. Probably going back to Nokia tho... N96 FTW. |
