I've been reading a Finnish newspaper online all morning and this makes me so sad :(
Finland is actually still quite a peaceful and quiet place to live. Even random beatings and street violence (never guns involved) make the news because they're not a common occurence over there.
We Finns, particularly guys, are pretty shy and introverted, and the typical American small talk is not common because in the Finnish culture, you don't talk unless you have something "important" to say. Normally, booze is the way to either get over the shyness or "drown your sorrows" but unfortunately, now the new way seems to be to kill people and try to martyrize yourself :rolleyes:
