Forum government agents...

This is probably unimaginable current in America...but in China...is it unreasonable at all to assume one is being watched on a forum, even if, the forum would be say, an electronic music website...or especially something like the PDD? What's to say it doesn't already happen right now with our own forum? I won't jump to conclusions, but is this an unreasonable suspicion, since they're already tapping our phone calls, email, and financial records.

I personally believe, we're slowly digressing into a right-wing police state.

TA or PDD aren't exactly activist groups or grassroots organizations looking to bring about social change man :D. And last time I checked, neither me or PKC were John Lennon ;).

even if they were, so what? there's no law to prevent an officer of the government from standing between you and a friend chatting on the street. what's the difference?

im actually an officer of the state, be afraid!

I love how you inject humor into the expression of your actual beliefs!

i agree on this one. if you don't want your public posts read then don't post in public. simple as that. you wouldn't talk about your plans to rob a bank on the sidewalk in front of a police station, why would you act differently on the internet?

You're too old and 'Smiley' to be any good as a "government agent" in that case ;).

You know what, on second thought... you're not smiling in that picture so your claim could be false .

can we, just for a second, acknowledge that "the government" isn't some monolithic hive-mind of cohesive unity? for sake. look at 911- half the reason it happened was because of a lack of agency communication; people worried about their bailiwick or rivalry/jealousy.

some parts of the government are employed to spy on its citizens. how do you conduct counter espionage and counter terrorism otherwise? :conf: you do agree with some form of intelligence gathering, do you not (assuming satisfactory pre-conditions are met)? im sure you'd be the first to condemn your incompetent government if they failed to prevent a serious attack? how are criminals meant to be caught if the relevant agency doesn't occupy the same place(s) as them? how do you expect law enforcement to carry out legitimate and exhaustive investigation?

these things should always have oversight of course. im sure secret agents monitor plenty of islamic websites, and local militias and KKK et al. but to think that they routinely "spy" on websites like this one is ludicrous.

but, you'll find plenty of nitwits here that will claim they do so to spread "disinfo". those people have penises hanging from their foreheads.
