Great!!! I have my accounts at WAMU (checking and savings) Now I am at a loss to what to do..
I left B of A years ago b/c of the fees for everything and for them wanting to hold school loan checks all the time. :whip: :whip: Not sure if I want to go back....
Was thinking of joining a credit union.
I have direct deposit that goes in tomorrow am....:nervous: |
Wells Fargo.. I have contacts depending on what city let me know :) |

Don't worry. Your money is fine. Unless you have over $100,000 in one account.

That's because CD's lock you in because of the higher interest rate. As stated above...you money is fine. You can can sleep well at night. |

| in this case, 100% of all deposits are covered, even over $100K. No one will lose any $. That was part of the deal Chase made in the buyout. |

The chance will be completely transparent to all WAMU customers and there will be no change or interuption to your banking experience.
So in the end, there's nothing to worry about. Business as usual. |

First I had Natl Bank of Detroit as a kid (NBD). Then I went to school and had BankBoston in college which then became Fleet Bank. After that, it was bought by Bank of America.
Then I left Mass and went back to Detroit to find that NBD was now BankOne. Then BankOne became Chase and now I still have chase.
The thing is......in the end, are we going to end up with just one bank to choose from? Can they keep conglomerating like this? I've had the same accounts since I was a kid - just gone through three name changes since then. But I have been looking at getting into a credit union instead - there are a lot of good local ones here in Colorado. |

I love my credit union for the most part. Little things are annoying... but that's mostly due to the fact I'm unemployed.
As far as fees go... well... they are just like any other place, they just tend to be more community based (meaning city/county) which is nice because it feels more friendly.

| I *heart* my credit union! There's one close to my home now too. :D Oh and I can even use the ATMs from other credit unions and not be charged! Yeah! There's also a new credit union right across the street from my job now! :toocool: |

| Wow this is big news to me, is that mean we have to replace all the ATM & Check Cards for WaMu with a new one? I still need to withdraw my $23.50 I have in my WaMu checking account... |
