I have no idea how there hasn't been a thread created for this, but it is an absolutely ing brilliant album. The aptly titled "Computer Games" sounds like just that - a ing computer game, a sexy, geeky, bouncy, "fun-to-play" video game. I will be playing many of these for a long time to come.
And above the tracks being great on their own, the live set from the Rex Club is absolutely immense. One of the best released live sets I've ever heard - and very much on par with Resident: Two Years of Oakie at Cream in terms of quality use of crowd noise on a proper release.
I cannot stress enough that if any of you haven't managed to give this a listen yet, you absolutely must. Up there for album of the year for me, that's for sure.
The Rub: Territory restricted in the U.S. for the moment for DD's, so you've got to buy a hard copy or pirate it for the time being if you live in the states. :( |

| hmmm my mistake, welp doesn't matter now, at least there is this one respecting the release. in fact i'm pretty damn surprised there wasn't one now that i re-listened to the samples. i would expect a lot of people on the board to be all over this |

Like he came out with that Video Game EP (”Computer Games EP” on Deeply Rooted House), it’s no video game sound effects on it! I didn’t understand, he called it Video Games EP, there’s no type of video game type atmosphere or feeling on that EP.
ISM: Some of your stuff has a definite video game feeling to it…
AOS: Yeah, because I sample all video games! But yeah, there’s alot of that going on. Mother******s ain’t as deejays, neither. That’s why Derrick May is one of the best deejays, know what I’m sayin’? He ain’t made tracks since like 1998, he’s just a good ass in’ deejay.
ISM: You’re into video games, what are your favorite game and system?
AOS: Robotron. For systems, I would probably say the NES. Maybe the (Magnavox) Odyssey 2. like that. The Dreamcast was underrated, then Sega went out of business. Kid Icarus was one of my favorites (games) too. My grandparents owned an arcade back in the 80’s. Stargate, Defender, all that when it first came out. |

Use a proxy server outside the US, it will fool Beatport and will allow you to buy the release. ;)

I'd kinda recommend avoiding putting credit card information (or any personal information for that matter) through a public proxy. |

The live recording is also reminiscent of that Oakenfold release in that they both have mixes that are great and mixes that are "meh" (none terrible - some just sound a touch off), but in general just put together so well it doesn't matter.
Listened to it twice today I like it so much. :) |
