Gaming bollocks aside guys...
Yeah, I'm with PKC on the 'Star Trek blows' thing. It just seems so dull, ie. the story lines and the characters.
Seriously Yohan, if you want to check out a sci-fi series that's a little different, and a little more random/interesting, then give Farscape a shot.
PKC described it, quite well I thought, as sort of like 'art-house' sci-fi.

star trek is ok, it just lacks depth compared to things like B5, firefly or BSG.

Indeed,
A show has to be either interesting (this sometimes comes with cheesy however)
or deep, star trek is neither. I really don't see the appeal.

Gaming has no place in this thread, you muppets.
Ok, I know PKC has watched at least one episode of Farscape. DarkArbiter, have you ever checked it out? Opinion plz. Or, anyone else who has watched it?
I thought it was way too interesting to be discarded, as it seems to have been. It made 4 seasons, plus 'The Peace Keeper Wars' tele-movie (only to tie things up, as opposed to other series that just disappeared without so much as a 'how's your mother').
Despite it's theatrics and 'oddness' it was better than Star Trek (and Stargate) ever was. IMO, obviously :o

I used to watch it ages ago, it was pretty good, but I don't know if its quite my type of thing though.
Didn't particularly love any of the characters, and wasn't epic (or kind've both like firefly/bsg).

My take on sci-fi shows:
Star Trek:
Everything is solved with modulating the shield harmonics. Moslty boring, but sometimes rather ok. I've only watched Voyager and some TNG when I was young, but don't remember about that one. Thinking of watching the latest "Enterprise".
Star Gate (SG-1):
Almost quit after 5 episodes in season 1. Kept going anyway and it works really well as "comedy" sci-fi. I like it. So much that I've re-watched all seasons.
Star Gate (Atlantis):
Pretty much the same stuff as SG-1. Fun stuff, mixed with boring episodes and some epic ones. Don't like it as much as SG-1.
Firefly:
Haven't seen it yet, only the movie. Will watch it.
Babylon 5:
Haven't seen it, except for a few episodes. Not sure I will watch it either.
Farscape:
Seen maybe half of season 1. Haven't caught my interest that much yet. I guess I have a hard time with all the muppets. So far "only watch when really bored" show.
BSG:
Now this is the dogs bollocks! Mint show, loving it!

Was that directed at me?
I'm sorry but it looks like I'm sticking to gay pr0n for now, farscape just doesn't live up to the comparison.

if you need your show to be shiny and new i can understand that, and there's no doubt that BSG has the edge from a production standpoint. but out of all the shows you listed, B5 is the only one that approaches BSG for quality in storytelling.
