That's because no one plays trance anymore.... :haha:
But seriously, it feels like the scene is so afraid of change. And I kinda went through the same thing as you Oz when I got back from Amsterdam. Hit 1 massive party there and it's just not the same here anymore. You can see the potential when you get overseas, where people actually "celebrate" when they party... then when you come back home it's a bunch of wannabe's and try-hards just looking for an escape from reality... hell living in Toronto, I can see why people need that escape, so try not to judge them... they are just a product of their environment. They're not tryign to change anything, they're just accepting that It is what it is (IIWII). It'll take some time, but you'll get back into it a bit. ;) |

| I haven't enjoyed going to clubs for the last couple of years. Everyone will go through it at least once....I've gone through it three times now. I will only go out now for a very select few DJs. |

it's the same people bringing the same DJs in the same venues. It's great when an outdoor party happens or something "rare" comes up but generally I feel that everything has been done before and I'm better off spending my time on new hobbies. |
+1 Totally Agreed |

instead of worshiping one or two dj's you need to go out and try different venues and parties even if you don't know who is playing or not sure if you're going to like the music, hit up a techno event, hit up a hipster event or a deep house event, just be open minded musically and you won't get bored or lose interest in "the scene". |
That's what I've been doing. For me, it works out a helluva a lot better. This way, I can go out on a whim, no hype, no expectations, so whatever the party turns out to be makes it a bonus. Besides, going out to a variety of events with any number of different DJs playing them means I'm probably not as subject to the 'international DJ' playing nothing but the big tracks all the time. |

hahahhaha sneaky :P
To be honest I think we need some sort of change in Toronto. We need more than 1 big club that plays trance. We also need more outdoor events, it doesn't even have to be at night, just a day event (but it seems that's not even possible)
When I was in Amsterdam it was different. Like you said, instead of really partying the people were celebrating. |

Don't fret - clubbing isn't exactly the healthiest or most productive hobby to begin with, and it's the same people bringing the same DJs in the same venues. It's great when an outdoor party happens or something "rare" comes up but generally I feel that everything has been done before and I'm better off spending my time on new hobbies. |
pretty much how i've felt the last 6 months
i'm also finding that the drive to toronto is becoming more and more of a deterrent to wanting to go out as i'm not from the area and the time i do get to myself is few and far between |

I couldn't have said it better myself!
I remember sharing our stories about our trips and coming to the same conclusions lol...but really unless one moves out of this city/country you just have to learn to cope with it. I thought about moving but I have a good job and my family is here and I'm not about to move to Europe just because the party scene is better! I put aside money every year and treat myself by going to atleast one party over there :D and that keeps me :) |

A part of me misses the parties, but a part of me is saying you've got more important things in your life right now to focus on that partying is near the bottom of the list.
I still have the same passion about the music, but for me, I don't have the need to come out and party the way I was a year and a half ago.
I'm probably going through a phase. Ugh. |
