Ok, Todays poll on CNN asks if it "Would China be justified in getting angry over the sale of weapons to Taiwan by the United States?"
I say hell no to this, Why is it ok for China to sell Arms to Iran, and everyone else under the sun, but we cant, when China stops sending weapons to Sudan, then maybe we can stop sending weapons to Taiwan. We should give Taiwan Nukes while we are at it too... |

| China claims Taiwan as part of its territory. It's as if California was a break away state from the union, and China was selling them sophisticated weaponry. |

uhhh not quite. it would be more analogous to Puerto Rico wanting to break away.

I'd say that's mostly true.
However, Taiwan does have the means to repel a Chinese invasion force (remember, it is an island after all, and islands are tricky regardless of which army that's doing the invading).
What Taiwan lacks is the ability to defend itself against Chinese missile strikes which would devastate it's infrastructure and leave it helpless and broken. |
