You need old roland gear.
Liam used to use a roland W 30 as a synth sampler and sequencer all in one - the vast majority of the first two albums were done entirely on and in a W 30.
Alpha juno 2 for the charley hoover sound, which is THE rave (and hard house) sound.
The strings from out of space (and a couple of other tracks) came from a roland u220 - basically a preset with chorus slapped on.
Try a jupiter 8 too and a juno 106 too, and for effects he swears by the Boss SE-70s
Learn to program and learn to sample. |

ha snap! I was thinking this weekend of where to get some old skool stabs from for a track.
I know FAW CIrcle has a good hoover copy in their presets, other than that I only know you can get samples from like the hardstyle CDs like Blutonium.
Would be good if we could both try to recreate some ones like the Congress - 40 miles stabs and post up here the setting we used. I'll try it out when back from work! |

There is a sample CD called "Ravers Revenge" that might be the kind of thing you are looking for. |

Yeah, this was before he then switched to doing everything in reason.
Actually, if you want to get ideas for rave/oldskool/hardcore samples, look for the "Hardcore - you know the score" compilations (yellow and red CD's). A lot of the oldskool classics on there.
Ahh....takes me back to labarynth, bagleys (and a couple of fields...) |
