Who are the Sonic All-Stars? Atlanta's premier Funk, Soul, and R&B tribute band. The group was formed in 2006 by veteran drummer/percussionist/ DJ Don Tonic, founder and head of Sonic Entertainment (Atlanta/Seattle). The All-Stars band represents the company as its flagship ensemble, highlighting the finest and most talented musicians and vocalists around. (See http://sonicentertainment.net/bands.html.)
Fresh for 2008, the new approach combines an expanded lineup featuring a horn section and percussionist alongside two lead vocalists, a combination that will bring magic to your ears. The songs in their repertoire are some of the most popular of our time, made famous by the greats: Etta James, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Michael Jackson, and the Godfather of Funk himself, James Brown. Taking things back to the roots of truly live music, the All-Stars are back on the scene to keep the funk alive like no other.

Mike has a resume that is 8miles long. Co-Founder of Atlanta's House juggernaut 4deep who regular hosts Connect at lava to a drooling audience. He spent several years hosting Houseworks on 88.5 WRAS, Georgia State Radio. He has forgotten more about music then most of you will learn in a lifetime. Mike spins regularly around town and is arguably the most proficient DJ in the Atlanta area, he is also a good friend of mine. We are very excited to have on the lineup.

Soul Brotha Tabone (aka A.T.Rell) is a Radio Host, DJ, Remixer, and Producer. He is a sound provider with the awareness of an orchestra conductor and the energy of a late night party patron. He specializes in spinning vintage (and contemporary) R&B/Soul classics, funk-driven dance vibes and Afro-Cuban/Latin rhythms. He also touches the sounds of deep house and explores the realms of nu-jazz and broken beat. He covers a lot of ground...but Soul is the common denominator of his sound. Tabone provides sound services for public and private functions. You can catch him on WRFG 89.3 FM from 1PM-4PM every Wednesday hosting "The Soul Chamber," a global soul music and information show that is also streaming live on-line at www.WRFG.org.

aka 404audio's TRUFORM and brother CHRISTIAN LAIN of 4deep
4deep and 404audio teamed up to do GROW Thursdays at LAVA a while back. The Lain brothers loomed in that merger and have broken out into a tag team duo the likes of which has never been seen. (seriously this is their debut event so I've never seen it) Christian and James, aka Truform, have dubbed this duo, "The Hawks" Come out early and see what it's all about.
