jarring mixes

have you ever liked it when a dj harshly cut a track? lots of people talk about how important smooth mixing is, but it seems like it's becoming more more acceptable to drop tracks out of nowhere, especially in the sort of cool noisy electro scene. I kinda like it

3 deck loop techno yes...everything else no.

in moderation, yes. although it does depend on the track & style. generally any kind of warmup set should stray away from it

i always try to keep a balance between smooth mixes & sharp/quick ones when i play trance. different styles suit different moments better

When its done creatively its very effective but it shouldn't be done very often, kinda like backspins.
