Changes In My Life
The following is a message from a porkchop.........
For a variety of reasons, Ive decided to make a career change.
I've decided to move from a full-time djing career to manage an extension of my family’s restaurant.
There are alot of reasons that lead me to make this decision, but I think that its been made with my best interests in mind, both personally and professionally. I feel really lucky to have this opportunity with my family and while I have no intention of completely quiting djing altogether, it will no longer be my full-time sole focus career-wise. On the contrary, Ill probably get deeper into the craft with having more free time to try different things.
I feel so lucky to have been living out this dream for the last 16 years and by no means is this a retiring. Basically, I want to transition my djing from a full-time thing to something I do for fun and love. I also want to explore more new developments in dj technology and other ways of thinking when it comes to music affecting atmosphere and programming in general. I want to explore djng with different genres too.
I will still keep playing occasionally, monthly or so. I want explore djing in a more creative way than I ever really did before. I'll dj alot more at home and I think this will give me the freedom to be more creative and it'll be a good way to connect with this craft in ways that I wasn't able to before. Regardless, I plan to play music for people until I die. Maybe in a jazz bar to young lovebirds meat-marketing when i'm an old fart or maybe I'll still be lucky enough to rip more Weird Science at CZ with Carlo lol.
None the less I think Ill be playing music for people till I'm dead.
But this message is more about expressing how thankful I am to everyone with whom I’ve come across over the years and shared amazing moments with while playing, partying or chatting. Some of you have really taught me a lot about life, love, rhythm, happiness and patience.
I love all of you and will miss many things about djing weekly. I'll always look back on these magical years with a fondness that'll make me feel sad at times to have left it, but Ill always feel grateful to have been lucky enough to have experienced all these connections with people through the love of music. It really has been something special that I’ve never taken for granted.
I’m also really proud as I watch my boys The Junkies, Carlo, YM, Jon Jon, Addy etc continue building their beautiful careers.
I'm now a full-time fan! lol
There are a lot of names Id love to mention at this point but Ill just name two.......
My brother Jason for being what I always wanted to copy and for constantly pushing me to do better and to not give up, ever.
Love you Jay.
Aaaaaaaaand Carlo in Lio. Bro I love you like my other brother and we'll be boys always! Gonna miss you so much! I wish you so much happiness man. You have an amazing heart. I Never thought Id connect with another dj the way I did with you.
Ill be watching your career with envious pride.
Straight Up Lots of Love to everyone!!!!
Its been a dream come true!
Thanks again
Nathan.

Old news to those who have him on facebook or are in one of his groups. Best of luck with his transition. I'm sure everything will work out for him.
At least he's still going to spin once a month :) Really looking forward to The Roaches set at CZ for Thanksgiving even more now |

Well that sucks!
Hopefully he is just doing this so he will be 10X as hype when he comes out of his semi-retirement, like Michael Jordan, or Jay-Z , or Roger Clemens |

Interesting. I can't recall another well known Toronto DJ that made such a conscious career change.
Best of luck Nathan! Your family's restaurant is lucky to have you :) |

| Jay busing system will be to take photos of the tables full of empty dishes and then showing the photos to the other busboys to have them pick them up. |
