Don't much care for OM anymore. I haven't been a fan of them for yeaaars...are they technically deep house? They're a bit pop oriented for my tastes, but I have a few old OM records that are ballur.
edit // I guess they can be deep house, I just think of "deep house" in a very Berlin and Detroit kind of way now :p |

yes I agree recently they have gone a bit commercial, but if you look at they releases cumulatively (including the older stuff) I'd say it's pretty good deep house. |

cassy plays a lot of deep house records
very trendy these days to play old deep house records
she also plays a lot of other records as well.
there are so many sub-scenes of deep house with different sorts of sounds and outlooks
on one hand you have naked music/om records
then you have freerange/buzzin fly/plastic city aka jimpster
there is a proggier deep scene like early night luke fair/masiello/howells/francois dubois
you have the jersey and nyc sound
there is glasgow underground
you have sf deep
you've got chicago (aka wayne gardiner lol)
you have detroit and nu-soul/ future funk and people like that such as jus-ed
there is the contemporary berlin and swiss appropriation of that
and you have an italian deep house scene in the early 90s (oh god so good)
all of these are 'deep house' |
