Up until this point, my favorite mix from you was the "Between The Lines" mix, but I'm fairly certain this one has taken the crown. I'm pretty sure I'll be keeping this one around for many more listens. I also have some new tracks to buy, so... cheers. :)
There were a couple of things I didn't care for, of course. Starting out, I found myself mildly annoyed by the opening synth. I think this went on a bit too long, but meh.
That repetitive vocal sample at around the 31 minute mark is incredibly annoying. It mainly made me want to stab myself in the face. I was so glad to see it go just before 32 minutes, to be replaced with a much more pleasant synth line. 32:26, there it is again.... . I think, even if it wasn't so loud in the mix it wouldn't be so bad. But, it's such an in-your-face annoyance that it just drove me crazy. Around 33:14 they expand the sample to loop a little bit longer, and that is much better.
This stuff around the 37 minute mark is beautiful... love it. Nice subtle pads and use of fx... this gets very epic without sounding too "epic", if you know what I mean.
Cool clarinet-sounding instrument around 40:20. :) This track is really cool. Creepy vocals which are kind of ethnic-sounding, without being too "try-hard". This track is a better example of repetitive use of short vocal samples than the aforementioned annoyance. Very unique song, this. I like! I'm gonna have to pick this one up.
I'm deep into the 47 minute mark now and this is getting very proggy... I really like where it's at now. You often hint in going this direction without actually diving all the way in. It's pretty refreshing, really. Not to say that I don't dig the blue-balls effect your sets give by going "Imma gonna prog! Imma gonna prog! Here it comes............ nah jk, tech-house" and I know that's something that you strive for... but this track is letting you release into that deep prog atmosphere a little bit more while still maintaining good flow in the set. I like the fact that you were able to go off on your loopy techno tangents, all the while, maintaining interest with stuff like this.
Into 50 minutes....wow, such melodic atmosphere you are able to maintain without the aid of unicorns... I'm impressed. This is really good stuff! It seems as if it would be very versatile as well... you could easily use this in a tech, prog, or deep house set and have it sound fantastic.
56 minutes, I love how the pace is picking up here. The percs are really helping drive the set upward. I feel like dancing in my office. I'm loving the steady harmonic saw-wave pads in the background that I keep noticing as a recurring theme in this mix. Nice organ-sounding synths in this track as well.
I love the percussion throughout this set (which is not something out of the ordinary and I expect nothing less by now), but one thing I really took note of was the excellent use of vocals throughout. Aforementioned annoyance notwithstanding, I really enjoyed the various singing. It's tough to find, in particular, male vocals in this type of music without sounding totally cheese or totally homo, but you manage to find them.
This mix starts out strong and ends even stronger. Fantastic job. |

Fortunately, it would seem that they seem to be more concerned with ridding the workplace of things that lower productivity. |
