Condom Hairties Anyone?

I've never seen a condom recycling bin, only condom dispensing machines (like the ones in the bathrooms) on the streets here. Maybe they get them from garbage cans in hotels. There are lots of "love hotels" in Asia that would provide a supply.

There was a comment to the article that seems to have been deleted (or I'd repost it). But, it was along the lines of
- The commenter did a bit of looking into it on their own, and it was cast-off condoms from Condom factories. ie: batches that failed the quality checks. Instead of just tossing the condoms - those were the ones that were getting re-used.
However, even if it was "Used" condoms.
- You dont get AIDS, you get HIV. HIV does not live for very long once outside of the body, and would long be dead before it got to the consumer. Also, the likelyhood of contracting HIV through oral sex is very low - let alone getting it from a rubber-band.
- The bacteria that spreads warts/etc would also dry up and die long before it got used
- Also, how are they collecting USED condoms in bulk at a high enough rate to even make this possible and affordable? Does China now have some sort of 'Condom Recycling' program in place? Are they sorting them out from garbage/recycling? are they fishing them out of the sewage system for when people flush them down the toilet? |
