Well I'll be honest, there isn't exactly a great way to source the etymology of the word "chronic" as slang, but in general it seems to have emerged as slang simply for any weed that is "high quality", and so if it is indeed the name of a strain I'd wager dollars to donuts that the term arose meaning "high quality pot" and was only later tagged onto a strain of weed - thus bastardizing the words initial intent in a manner not at all dissimilar to the way "minimal techno" bastardizes true conceptual minimalism.

I withdraw my statement, if there's one place I trust it's sensi seeds (click, order and grow), and I could have swore they had chronic seeds for sale (listed simply as a strain of it's own just as the others I mentioned) but it's not there. Sorry nachos for the misinformation.
Now I'm intrigued.

Yeah - Sensei isn't bad, and their shop in Amsterdam was pretty neat (I believe it's closed or moved since I was last back), but I still think with pretty much all of the larger seed dispensaries there is a big difference between truth in marketing and what is actually the case.
I'd believe whole-heartedly that at one point or another there was a strain named "Chronic" for sale from any number of them - I just don't know that I'd buy anyone telling me their genetics were the original source of the use of "chronic" as slang.

Exactly - and in that sense, it's the same regardless of whether your sketchy/annoying dealer in the States is telling you you're buying "____ haze" or you're in Amsterdam buying it at a shop.
The only way anyone will know how any strain of pot will actually affect them (beyond vague generalities) is to smoke it. :p |
