I'm on a Kaiser :p but I've beaten the out of it over the last 18 months so time for something new.
You get no service at all in the Europe with a US T-mobile. It can't find a carrier at all ("no networks"). I called T-mobile USA about it and they said they don't cover Europe, which is so dumb because they are one of the biggest (and actually the oldest) service providers in the UK.

haha I will tell you your problem. International is NOT on your phone. ;) My sister JUST had this problem when she left to Russia. :) This fixed it. You are Roaming though. :)

Nope - I flashed it with a custom ROM and tried again. Also, with the factory UK T-mobile ROM. No luck. It really is the fact the T-mobile USA have no services partners in the UK yet. This was also confirmed by T-mobile USA when I got back.

Whether you have a custom rom or not has no effect. This is all carrier side. International roaming must be turned on in order to allow your sim to roam on other networks. My sister and I both have custom roms. This has no effect. It has to do with the provisioning. No matter if they have roaming partners or not, you should be able to roam.
Go to my.tmobile.com and copy and past me your plan with ALL services that you are subscribed to.
