Thought about doing something about this for a while & decided to give it a go and see how it goes. Basically the idea is for me to take tunes I've liked in the last few years that I think never got the exposure they deserved, present you with a sample of it, and a link for discogs and digital download sites and hopefully spread a bit of knowledge & give some tunes a bit of a chance that perhaps got a bit overlooked, god knows we've all done that before.
Blake Jarrell - Okoboji (His Boy Elroy Mix) [Proton Records]
Genre: Breaks
Description: Melodic beauty of a tune, almost Hybrid style. Heard first on their transitions guest mix for John Digweed back in late 2005. IMO a beautiful tune that ranks alongside stuff Hyper, Hybrid & company have done.
Sample: 3:59 long, 192kbps [[ LINK REMOVED ]]

no worries :) I have plenty more to suggest, so might do one a day, or every couple of days, and if it gets good feedback we can get others to do lots too, trying to bring a variety of genres too, just cos it's fun that way :) |

I really like this idea.
I feel it needs segregating though. Split into genre's into one master thread so that it's easy to browse and people witht heir own expert feild can recommend their choice cuts.
A little bit like the master tutorial thread in production forum. |

| never thought i'd see okoboji on these boards. I think its a popular lake in iowa or somewhere in the midwest. midwest would have a popular lake named something like okoboji. |

Nice! Going to see Blake Jarrell in Tokyo at the end of November (same night as Armin). Looking forward to his set. In fact, Taro Yoda will also be on the same night; it's gonne be immense! Yoda's tracls could do with some more limelight, too.
I liked his bootleg remix of Linkin Park's 'Shadow of the Day'. Never saw a release, such a waste. |
