the good thing with macbooks is that you can replace the hard drive on your own and put up to 500 gb in there for about 100 quid without having to rely on tech support. The older macbook pro didn't have that feature, nor does the iMac, which is now a real problem to me.
I'd go for the older white macbook, that still has firewire 400, although there's nothing bad about dell computers, except windows.
Also keep in mind that new macbooks use new ram chips, these are not really common, and might be harder to find than the good old 5300 sodimms. As you can upgrade to 4gb on both models, do it ASAP. 2 gb is okay in terms of performance, but the more the better. |

You just said two stupid things in one sentence with terrible grammar
Why are laptops not stable? What a load of .
Also, why are PCs not stable? Everything that is properly maintained is stable. Also your logic about Macs being better because your friends use them....for crying out loud, are you serious!? |

ive used pc's my entire life.... but my current work situation justifies a laptop. after trying ableton, cubase, reason, logic, & fruity, i am looking at the new MBP... After using all of the above i actually prefer ableton the best (love being able to bind anything to midi so quickly/easily).
To avoid doubt, my bottom line is this:
its the chef, not the kitchen.
So.. the MBP would costs dearly, but does its sexyness make it worth it over other laptops? Care to share your story?
Yes, i intend to produce on the MBP also (got a firebox). Can anyone indicate to me how much a 4gb MBP can deal with when running logic? |

| Apparently quite a bit, but don't quote me on that. Logic does have some CPU heavy plugins after all. |
