Not having free time, rarely seeing friends/family, getting no sleep, never home.
yeah, that's the life...:o
don't get me wrong though, I'd take that over what my future career will be any day, but it's not always peachy. |
What this guy said.

Famous, eh? Well that depends on how involved in the scene you are. If TAers know about a DJ they might not be famous, if they get an Essential Mix, or if they hit the billboard chart then perhaps...

Think of the life. Jet setting around the world. All you do it play a set at clubs as a job. How awesome is that? I can only imagine. |
Depends if you care much about your family, friends and the like. My father travelled on business for pretty much all my childhood and it wasn't as glamorous as you suggest it might be. There was a stretch for a few years where I saw more of him in Southern California than I did at the family home, almost 6000 miles away!
If you're a single guy who enjoys seeing different places every week then I'm sure it is great. Don't be under any illusion though, business travel isn't all it is cracked up to be, that does depend on your company travel policy though...my first trip was on a private jet staying at the Four Seasons. I wasn't complaining.:)

It's like giving someone one dollar after another until they become rich. Is there really any specific moment in which they suddenly become rich? |
Well there are some measures of 'rich'. Merrill Lynch/Capgemini World Wealth Report notes that using their standards 'Ultra High Net Worth' is US$30m+ in assets, and HNW is $1m+.
I think 'rich' is more a state of mind though, not necessarily directly related to financial assets. This coming from someone who worked in investment and financial planning :wtf: |

I don't respect any dj that wants or desires fame in one way or another.

although I appreciate the faceless person behind the decks as much as the next guy, I think it's inevitable for even the most underground DJs to become noticed at least locally if they are playing out a lot.
I guess it depends a lot what is meant by "fame" - most of the "famous" electronic musicians I've encountered have a deeper connection to sounds or the scene and the "fame" is basically a by-product |
