What is it that causes a "cheap" guitar to go out of tune so easily? Are the tuning...erm...knobs (sorry for the n00b terminology) just loose? Can't they be tightened? If it's in the strings, can't those just be replaced? |

It's the same thing as in all things in life - there's usually a reason why something is cheap.
More often than not the components are of poor quality. |

if you are starting buy a higher quality guitar used.
my gf added a nice les paul gibson to her collection this weekend for a very reasonable price.
also: women that play the guitar well are so very sexy...slapping me on the back of my head when i up during her lessons...not so much.

i was drinking heavily with my gf the first night i bought the guitar and she thought it would be funny to try and make me look like her idol david bowie.
She is an awesome guitar player (has 12 of them to date) and i am not, so it made the drunken learning process a little more fun. Teaching a drunk n00b can be tedious I imagine:p |

| Like others have said, cheap guitars are harder to play, learn on and you will become frustrated with it. You're better off spending a bit extra on a nice guitar that will hold its value also. I love Ibanez electric guitars and Maton acoustic guitars personally.;) |
