Review - Pete Tong @ Century

Well we had a roll call thread, so why not a review thread.

Century Room filled up nicely. Not too rammed.
The opening/house DJ got things going well.
Met a group of people with a table in view of the DJ booth, and had a great time hanging out with them.

Pete Tong Hit the decks shortly after 12.
I see there was a thread with a live to air on 100.7. That would explain the guy with the mic talking during the set, but we could not hear him.
Pete played a great set. I am more of a trance fan, but his track selection was UK House, maybe underground, as I was told by one of the guys in the group I was with. Great vibe and flow.
Many others were having a good time dancing to the beat.

I am not going to try and list any tracks played, as house is not my forte.
I left around 2:30 and Pete was still on deck.

Overall a great night, great tunes, people and venue.
Perhaps I will add some pictures later.

I kind of enjoyed the Tuesday event.
Like the Tuesday Armin van Buuren Ultra event.
Good tunes, nice group of people, not overly packed, but just enjoyable.
I can handle a couple of these a year.

He wasn't too spectacular.. but wasn't bad either. He "tong'd" things up a few times and I thought his intro was way too drawn out. All in all it was a decent Tuesday Night out that I can't really complain about. Like Vogon said: he played a nice variety. It was also my first time to Century Room. I like the setup and decor here. The live video projection feeds from the dj booth are a good touch. It's a really nice club and I will return if the right dj catches my ear. Videos coming in the next day or two.

I have now finally realized how much I can't stand drinking crowds. This is the first time they've annoyed me to the point where I felt like writing about it. I had at least two drinks spilled on me, a fight break out five feet away and people constantly bumping into me because they're too drunk to stand straight, let alone dance. It didn't hurt that the club was ing packed - at least the main room. Things were much better at 2:30ish. If only it didn't end at 3

Anything like his Essential Mix/Selection intros? or his Ibiza Wonderland intros?

Don't really listen to the show to be honest, haha.

He had this beat looped and kept tightening it to make a zippy sound that he fiddled with. It sounded alright the first time but he kept making it faster than slower - at least 5-6 times total. I'm pretty sure everyone was thinking 'just drop the ing beat already'. When the loop was looser/slower it sounded terrible because there was a song playing in the background that wasn't the same speed so all you could hear was how bad they clashed.

Kotsy,
I hear you about the drinkers. I was standing by one of the bottle service tables all night, hoping that I would have one side blocked from traffic. I was stepped on many times, drinks splashed, and pushed repeatedly.
It was more of the girls constantly wandering back and forth all night long. I must have seen the same 20 girls walk by dozens of times.
That aside, I was happy that unlike TIL I did not have to spend the morning picking broken glass out of the soles of my shoes.

His intro was one song stretched out for 5 to 10 minutes and then a second song stretched out. I just figured it was transition music until Pete got going.

Agreed. Fun set and alot of good memories from that night!

I don't like drinking crowds either. I much prefer crowds where everyone is on E, G, K, or coke, or all at the same time. Nothing makes me want to party more than someone G-ing out and falling on top of me!

Lol awesome how everyone never fails to bitch at what people consume hahaha. Everyone complains about places being way too sketchy and drug use at certain places is through the roof.... then omg they're too drunk. Honestly who cares, people need to learn not to care how intoxicated others are around you... personally I would rather a sketchy ass crowd of people tripping out cause they never cause any harm and they keep to themselves... drunk jacked & tan haircuts can get quite annoying sometimes spilling drinks and the like but hey, not the end of the world just go on with the party a little more lubricated than before :)
