Looking for a portable/mini MIDI Sequencer

Anyone know of any portable/mini MIDI sequencers that can be used to compose on the go? A couple things I've seen so far are the Yamaha QY100 and MPC500. The Yamaha might be more of what I'm looking for, but I'll have to demo one of these at a Guitar Center or something. Something else I saw was the DStep sequencer for the Nintendo DS, but I can't tell if it load up say like a generic piano or synth and program an actual melody. Anyone know of any nifty little gadgets out there?

I'm looking for anything but a laptop. I guess it would've helped if I said that in my first post. The DStep sequencer for the DS looks pretty cool... check out the vid for it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWTLnG30r3g. I'm just not very good at soldering and not sure if you can program melodies into it.
