Many executives earn low in terms of salary, like a $1, but they get huge payouts from dividends, which are not classed as salary but still as income.
Back to the subject.
Let's remind everyone about this. "Joe the Plumber" asked Obama a Theoretical question at a rally, about a situation where if he were to buy a plumbing company that earned him $250,000 would your (obama) tax plan cost me more.
Obama took the time and explained to him that if he earned more than $250,000 profit (AFTER TAX, PERSONALLY) then he would pay 3% more tax ($7,500) than now.
It was McCain who decided to purposfully take the comments out of context, and in the process nearly ruin this guys life, but who gives a when you're losing a presidential race, right?
McMcain desperately needed anything (including the resultant lies) to try to push it in to the minds of some less intelligent people living in states (especially Dumbingstan - google it if you don't know) that Obama is trying to raise taxes, which is actually the opposite for 95% of people living in the US.
Let's look at this. If you own a business that earns you more that $250,000:
A, you can easily afford, based on classic personal expenditure economics, a mortgage of about $7,000 per month which will buy you a $1.5m dollar house.
B, Own a couple of cars (sports probably) and probably some sort of holiday home.
C, Will not have to worry about college tuition fees, as about a months wages to you will will cover each child for a year.
Somehow, McCain decided that this model is a good way to talk to the average worker or small business owner, trying to scare them that Obama is going to tax them more, all because he's saying that "joe the plumber" is like you.
Yeah, 95% of the people who live in this country, have $1.5m houses, drive sports cars and don't have to sweat about college tuition.
Lets clear this up:
Joe is not even a Plumber and never has been. He's not a registered or qualified Plumber.
Joe admits he does not earn anything near $250,000 or has has enough to invest in to that theoretical plumbing company or will anytime soon.
Joe states Obama's tax plan will save him money, over McCain's.
Even though he will not say who he's voting for, friends of his have conceded that even though he is a registered republican, they think he will vote for Obama, because Obama's economic plans are more suited to him.
Simply put, I think if we are going to talk about Joe the Plumber, let's talk about it for real, not the BS that McCain out out there to try to save his flawed economic plans and shambolic presidential campaign. |

If Obama is a Socialist then so is Mccain because he absolutely agreed with Obama in 2004.. Seriously, with Obama 10 points clear in most polls now (including 7 points clear as stated by Fox news), McCain is going to do and say anything now.
Joe the Plumber + "Socialism" (it's not actually socialism but you'd know that if you had any education) + "spreading the wealth" are the best they can come up with?
Oh, lets not forget the letters with white powder that were sent out last week - nothing like a bit of terror to get the Dumbingstanis to vote for the corrupt old white guy.
Well, they can always release another Bin Laden video - that helped last time. Oh shoot, that won't work either this time because it just shown how useless the republican administration has been in finding him.
