I have a better idea..
Why not come up with a Camera that has GPS and modem to upload photos automatically as soon as you snap a shot.. That way if you are being mugged or beatin.. the photos go straight to a control center that dispatches police.
I dunno, does anyone think this idea would work? |

How many people would actually be able to pull out a camera and be able to take pics of themselves being mugged or beaten? :conf: |

I have heard many stories of people pulling out their cellphones and the one lucky enough to have camera's on them actually helped police catch these criminals. I am just saying there aren't any camera's on the market with built in modems. |

If there was I wouldn't buy it. It would cost way too much for something I would probably never use.
KaiLee beat me too it.... Im pretty sure its VERY rare for someone to have the opportunity to even use their cell phones to take a picture of the attacker. I doubt it would even cross my mind. |

Well I think the point the police are trying to make is that pictures are better then bullets since pictures are proof that something has happend.
I for one would love to have a camera that had like a small satellite phone built into them..(why their isn't one already i dunno) This would make it easier for photographers to publish on the go and not have to worry about transferring data. I will bet we will see something like this on the market very soon like in 1-2 years. |

I never said that it wouldn't work. Its just not really a feasible idea in most situations.
You are walking down the street. Some guy puts a gun to your back and tells you to give him your wallet/purse. Are you really going to have the balls to pull out your cell/camera, turn around and take a picture?
Regardless that has nothing to do with the article.
This idea is stupid and a waste of money.
Can you imagine a criminal reading about this and thinking 'Sweet deal, I am giving up thug life to become a photographer'
hahaha not going to happen.
Besides, although I don't know anything about guns Im sure they cost much more than those point and shoot Nikons. |
