Flstudio question

Alright people,

Here's a simple question regarding FLstudio.

Is it possible to create a pattern, lets say, a basic kick pattern. Then in the song arrangement window, layout 4 bars of the kick.

Now in cubase, you can double click on anyone of these 4 bars and edit the kick, for example making it a kick roll, and it will not effect the other three bars of the kick.

If I try this in FLstudio, it will effect all of the 4 bars of the kick, so I have to clone the pattern, and then I can make any changes I want to the cloned pattern. So I can end up with a lot of clones of the same channel throughout a track as I notes or beats.

Does anyone know if it's possible to do in Flstudio what I described that can be done in cubase? or is what I am doing via the cloning of channels the only option.

It's just a small frustration I have with FLstudio, and it's not the end of the world, but it would be nice to know how to do it if it is possible.

Cheers

why do you need to do this how is it effecting what you are making?

It's not affecting what I am making, but i just think that I would improve the workflow (personal opinion) if you could just click on any "block" in the song arranger, and edit the midi info without it affecting the every block on that track.

I knwo it can be done in cubase, and I think it keeps the song arrangement window much neater, and easier to see what is going on. I believe this can also be done in logic.

Like I said, it's not the end of the world, but I think it would be an improvement to FLstudio if this could be done, a I use Fl, and think it's a very capable tool.

well when im laying down components for a tune i normally go to piano roll make lets say 2/3 bars of beats or whatever.
then place it in fl play list.
i can go back to it at any time without changing any other part of my track.

Well it depends on how crazy you wanna get.

Its a little bit of math.
If you wanna make a 4 bar kick loop where 2 of those bars have variation, just clone it.
If you wanna make a 4 bar kick loop where all 4 bars have variations (all different frome each other) just drop the kick notes into the piano roll on c, draw out the entire 4 bar in the piano roll so you have just 1 pattern.

**Anytime** I do kick rolls I use the piano roll, you can't do anything really in pattern mode for that.
Just do an entire 4 bar loop with all the variations on the piano roll, that'll leave you with one pattern.

And honestly I love the cloning aspect of fruity, makes it REAL simple to do variations, so either way it doesn't bother me.

I personally think that making clones is really easy to work with as it gives you more freedom and flexibility to place and copy parts of tracks. You can also choose to edit the piano roll instead and make 2 bars as one 'pattern'.
The sequencer/playlist in FL Studio I find a lot better than in other programs.

Indeed, all that is lacking is freezing and multicore support to be honest.

Agreed. I find this better than Cubase where each event is edited individually. Just gone back to FL from cubase.
