Thanks. I'll let you in on a secret that many Christians don't want people to know... according to Christian theology all that don't reject god's love get the same treatment in the afterlife... the only reward(s) for dutiful Christians are in this world. |

| Why do you fear god? isn't he supposed to be like a really nice guy that you love and loves you back? Oh sure he tortures and slaughters people just for the fun of it, but that's just infidels, people that believe in him are supposedly safe. |

The best example is the parable of the prodigal son. Just as the father accepts his son back and throws a banquet for his return despite squandering all that he had given him as will god. Jesus states multiple times in the gospel that God's justice is not the same as mans. The over riding message of salvation in the gospels is that if you accept God's love then you are of God and will return to God. The Roman Catholic church has taken this to mean that if you accept any love then you are part of God as all love is from God. So ultimately (and by the church's own teachings) how you worship, who you worship, even if you worship is inconsequential... what matters is if you love. That being the case then the only benefits of religion are those that we receive in this world... specifically with Christianity the benefits are (in theory) peace and community. |
