I can safely say anyone *expecting* to hear mostly minimal will be disappointed!!

It's halloween, it's opera house, it's Rohr, they've been asked to destroy it.....I'm going to go on a lil edge and say......

IT'S ING HALLOWEEN TECHNO TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :eyes: :eyespop:

Oh ya - to this day, this event was the hardest techno event I've been too since, and in the top 3 all time.

So, bring it on!

I think this is lookin like the best thing on friday night.
The plan is to get ridiculously wasted that I won't care it's minimal all night, but if it's "Halloween Techno Time" as you hope Stefan, it's gonna get messsssss-e!! :thepirate

Stefan, if you thought that night was the hardest techno you've ever heard, then you dont know what you're missing.

Next time the Drummer (D.A.V.E. The Drummer) is back in town, you're coming... and then you'll hear some real proper hard techno.

(Also included in events I'd drag you out to if anyone ever booked them would be: Gayle San, DJ Murphy, Felix Kroecher and/or Patrick DSP! Those guys (and gal ;)) PLAY PROPER HARD all the time!

What can we expect from the venue? I heard last year the door search involved taking off your shoes! Which sounds crazy to me, its a techno party not an Al Qaeda convention!

Also whats the sound system like?

I've never been searched at the Opera house, no idea people were being made to take off their shoes.

I've been there 3 times before and the venue is "ok" - the sound system has ranged from pretty weak to solid, it depends if the promoters stick with the house system only, or bring in their own gear.

It's usually more of a concert-venue, and if the sound is left as that - doesn't translate so well to an EDM event.

Layout is OK - I like the balcony up top to escape to to relax. Not a fan of dancing on the main-floor area - too crowded, but up on the steps leading to it you can usually find some room no problem.

Not my favorite venue, but not a bad one. But, wondering why this year they didnt have the main party at the bassement and just had it run all night long giving the headliners extended sets - trying to fit 5 DJs into 6 hours seems like a tight squeeze.

yeah 5 DJs in 6 hours does seem like a really tight squeeze, especially since 3 of them are international. I hope we get to see a fair share of each one! I doubt the bassment holds enough people to have the entire party there though.

Good point. I hear the Bassment's system is awesome now.

Figured as much, meant to add "..knowing it's platform, shouldn't have anything to worry about" :)

Ok I've only attended Opera House once in the past and it was for the same party last year (with Beyer). The line went in fairly quickly and despite what was said above I can remember we were searched fairly thoroughly and one of my friends behind me had to take off both shoes for inspection!

The venue itself in a way creates a darker, ambient vibe that suited the Vampire theme quite well, and will also bring out the best for the Grindhouse theme (OMG LOVE IT!).

The lighting was sort of weak, wasn't too fancy at all, no crazy light beams. I didn't mind it too much at all, but there were a few times when some songs were dropped where a few lazers couldn't have hurt.

The sound was OK. But I have to say everything else balanced out and we had a great night overall! Definately was very anxious in the past couple months for details because I wanted to check it out again over every other party in TO on the same day...

We'll see what happens this year for any "loft" or after parties as the last one was quite....flop-tastic!

Can't believe it's tomorrow already, get your gear on, strap those boots, get dirty.

It's gonna happen!!!!!!!:toocool:

EDIT: I really hope Rohr drops a bunch of DRUMCODE productions...FEM and TRE from his Which Way to Stockholm album (beatport it) are gonna be sik in this venue!
