Sarkozy: Obama "utterly immature" on foreign policy

According to Ha�aretz, the Israeli government has information that Nicolas Sarkozy has derided Barack Obama as an empty suit on foreign policy. The French president, who has worked hard to bring his country closer to the center-right policies of strength especially on Iran and Israel, considers Obama �utterly immature� in this arena:

Obama visited Paris in July, and the Iranian issue was at the heart of his meeting with Sarkozy. At a joint press conference afterward, Obama urged Iran to accept the West�s proposal on its nuclear program, saying that Iran was creating a serious situation that endangered both Israel and the West. According to the reports reaching Israel, Sarkozy told Obama at that meeting that if the new American president elected in November changed his country�s policy toward Iran, that would be �very problematic.� |
Can anyone blame him? Europe does not want direct presidential-level negotiations with Iran � they want the mullahcracy isolated. They need American strength behind that position in order to wring concessions from the ruling Guardian Council. With the price of oil plummeting over the past two months, the economic sanctions on Iran finally have a chance to bite the mullahs hard. Obama�s stated policy would undo everything just at the moment that it has a chance of producing real change.
In fact, Sarkozy believes that Obama would wind up being more unilateral than George Bush in his foreign policy. When a French politician uses the word �arrogant� as an accusation, that means something. Apparently, their brief meeting during the Obama World Tour did not set Sarkozy�s mind at ease. He saw something that makes him extremely uneasy with Obama in charge of American diplomacy.
Formulations empty of all content.
Sounds familiar, no? It has the ring of Hope and Change. |

do you still use the term 'freedom fries' in north carolina? Or is this an occasion to revert back to the classical term 'french fries'?
my point being: so ing what? you don't care what he says about anything else, why should this occurrence be different? |

what are you implying... that it's not true? I know you hate the J's but that doesn't mean they made this up. If it's not true, Sarkozy will say so :D |

I am implying this is nothing more than Israeli propaganda, straight from unnamed Israeli government sources. What, do they have Mossad following around Sarkozy? I don't hate Jews. I hate far right Zionists. You know, the ones who would like nothing more than the destruction of the Palestinian nation?
And what kind of reporter reports this bull? A reporter who regurgitates what "government sources" say. Hmmm. Sounds propagandist to me. |

I have no problem criticising mccain. I just see him as the lesser of 2 evils. I know Sarkozy's opinion is opinion and not fact. The analogy I was using was in general to the many things that people have brought up or realized or discovered about Obama in recent weeks/months, yet no matter what it is people don't care because of their emotional attachment to him/his persona. |

Was Obama ever charged with committing any crime? I have been friend with a guy who was in the Aryan Brotherhood (prison gang), does that make me a white supremacist? |

| The sad thing is that while it's true that Obama has serious foreign policy weaknesses, Iran is pretty much the exception to that rule. Quite apart from that, Sarkozy is an idiot. So I can't imagine any good reason why anyone would want to conveniently start listening to his opinion. |
