I'll admit, I'm HUGE on headphones. When I DJed in the clubs I almost always used the Pioneer HDJ-1000s. While they didn't have the best sound, I loved the way they fit on my ears and had clear highs and mids. And I'm a bit rough on headphones and Pioneer fixed them for me three times, free on charge and replaced the pads for a nominal fee. At home I used the Sony MDR-V7509 for that powerful bass....
Now I'm seeing a new wave of headphones on the market. I saw a new Allen & Heath Xone XD53 and a new Pioneer HDJ-2000 which has me a little curious. Are these worth the money? The AH goes for over $250 and from what I'm told the new Pioneer with go for over $300. I guess that's not that much more money than the headphones I"m currently using, but with improved technology are the new wave of headphones actually better? You can't get an accurate reproduction of sound at these electronic stores so I'm asking those who've actually used the AH or new Pioneer for an opinion. |

what wave of new technology are you talking about? these are just new models, no where does it say they feature new technology or am i missing that?
you get what you pay for, if you say you are big into headphones then get a nice pair. I dont think other than style or design there are an major break throughs in headphone technology. lol
I use these and love them.

Can't go wrong with sennheisers :)
I personally prefer headphones made by companies that specialize in headphones (sennheiser, ultrasone, Grado, etc.). I personally never cared for the sound of Pioneers. I like the Technics RP-DJ1200, but don't like the RP-DH1200's at all. I'd be willing to bet that the A&H and higher-end pioneers will sound good, but there doesn't seem to be any interesting technology there to merit the pricetag. |
