Where do you live?
I am in Fort Lauderdale.... Someone definetely has to save trance in south florida. Im noticing that so many clubs that used to play dance, now play hip hop. Nothing against hip hop, but man... other places in the states have a more well rounded musical culture.
South florida is very commercial,,,, kinda things go along with the hype.
I was thinking of starting a venue. However, i need to find a couple of DJs that are willing to do some spinning for promotional purposes (to promote themselves and trance).
I need to find some resources on that. Ive got an idea, but i need to talk to someone whos actually done that before (start venues).
BTW, if you have a server where I can upload, i can send u one of my demos....
just curious as why u are want to listen to everyones set so badly... is it that u want to know what u are up against or just curious to see what is played by other kats?
Something i've noticed, and something ive had to get accustomed to is the little trance scene that is here is kind of one way. Its Miami like. Lotta of german trance. Not much progressive. On the contrary, if you talk about countries where trance is already established, the music is getting darker, more progressive, complex.....
Most people down here who even like trance are into more commericalized tunes..... i guess its because it is not established yet
And DJs have to adapt, cause people wont be into what they dont like. So i guess by spinnin, you fall between what they like and your true style.
We need to get the scene established here before it dissapears.. |

| Hey everyone, i am a trance dj from Clearwater, FL. Just for the record, theres no trance scene here either. The people/djs here are still stuck on breakbeat. I went out around here last night for the first time in a very long time and I did not here a single trance or house song all night. My lease runs out in October so I will be joining you all in south Florida later this year. I hope to be able to lend a hand in saving the trance scene there. I have some very good connections with many famous german djs who have never been to USA and want to come here real bad. There We Go.
I live In South Beach but am originally from NY. Moved here to spin trance and now its almost all gone. Been doing it for 2 yrs now and just finished a real sick demo (www.djpetedekan.com). I have a few friends and places that are helping me out with jobs but nothing to solid yet. Hopefully i will have a weekly gig within a month or two. Here in Sobe its all about who you know, not how you mix and also the music is more housy and progressive.
I want to meet up with some Peeps for Picotto this Friday, look for a meetup thread. |

From what i've seen and heard, NY is supposed to have a better, bigger trance scene. What part of NY are u from?
What are some places in Miami (clubs) that spin trance? |

| I Left Ny when Twilo Closed, and no place was spinning trance it was all hard house (NYC). Just recently places liek Exit have been spinning trance but Florida is definatley a better spot to start. Some SoBE trance clubs are Liquid, Space was on Fridays not sure what they are doing now, this new place Exile has a new afterhours and thats basically it. |

I spin as a hobby mostly, once a week to every few weeks. Im more into the car then into the tables right now. I do have a set on mp3 from when my friends were sittin around and chillin and switchin off. Ill cut it up and send it to anyone if they want. I only had time to spin like 8 records but i think i did pretty good.
I'd be interested to see what u think. Everyone tells me i should spin at clubs but thats not my thing right now.. |

| Hey guys i spin at a few clubs in palm beach(if anyone care) Liquid as a fill in dj(regular dj's suck they just know the owner better), chill(may start a weekly gig during peek hrs) ovation(not that often im not to into all the 14year old's asking for dnb) and i cant stress the parties......(lots). I dont plan on making djing a carear i wanna be a computer programmer, but hey djing pays the bills. |
