"Following an impressive string of outings on Poker Flat, Resopal and Auralism, California's Limaçon provides Thoughtless with three lucid tech-house jams designed for bass-propelled transportation. Featuring analog hardware and plenty of syncopation, the production on all three cuts speaks for itself – making a convincing argument for the future of machine funk. Hot off his Trentemoller remix for Tic Tac Toe, Rekids' James Teej shows us why he's poised to be Toronto's next big thing with a chugging yet evocative remix of 'The Ride'. In turn, Voodeux's KiloWatts drops a searing interpretation with burning keys and winding synth lines weaving into a prolonged tech-house crescendo. Fasten your seatbelt – with Limaçon at the wheel, we're in for a thoughtless ride..."

I'm obviously biased but I implore you to tell me the best version is anything but #4.
This fellow at FWD DJ agrees:
| quote: | | The next song is an absolute masterpiece remix of “the ride” by Kilowatts. This producer has been on my radar for a little while after his earlier releases on Thoughtless Music and this track does not disappoint. The introduction is straight to the point and promptly glides in a bass line, kick, and movement inspiring percussion. The real fun begins at 1:30 with the introduction of a beautiful music-box-style harp synth that floats over the lushness that is snaking below. At about 2:20 a tension sting rises up out of the silky bass until it pops and allows for the introduction of the main track concept. It’s almost ridiculous to try to explain how good the track is from here. Any DJ with a sense of wonder and dance floor mischief is going to want to pick up this song. The only down side I have is a slight dislike for the tonal qualities of the synth that comes in at 4:38, but even that autocorrects quickly when whole track initiates key changes at 5:10 that will really let the music connect with the crowd. Once again, fairy tale atmospherics progress forward for the whole 8:59 minutes of music and leads us to the song’s conclusion. With releases like this, Kilowatts is a producer to keep your eye on for the future! |
