Some people apparently find it drastically offensive. |
I think anything that isn't commonplace is perceived as more offensive. by that I mean generally accepted. everyone uses "bitch", "", etc. but douchebag is relatively uncommon. it's like you weren't satisfied using a conventional slur and instead pulled out a nastier one.
it still doesn't even come close to the all-powerful "****", IMHO. that's a show stopper. soooooo many people become really upset when that one comes out :) |

In my opinion someone who:
is utterly and absolutely stupid. They acted in a way that proved them to be idiotic on all fronts. They are not very smart because the outcome of their decision made people realize how much of a douchebag they really are. And their actions are usually self-absorbed and immature. |
Can you actually use the word in question while trying to define it?? Lol. ;) |

Seems this word is getting used a fair bit recently. On a scale of 1-10, how offensive is it to be called a douchebag?
What is the actual definition? A thing you douche your bag with, or what? |
I don't know how offensive it is but I have never used the word douchebag to be a positive.
Generally, the person has to be pretty stupid, ignorant or just plain dumb.
If you are being called one.. I would seriously assess whatever it is you are doing. |

depends on the context...
i think as a general insult its relatively tame, as to label someone pretty much worthless (on par with loser, scumbag, etc.).
Casually among friends its virtually ignored, "oh is such a douche, he should really drink more often..."
In public its probably ignored, "Hey douchebag watch where you're going..." etc. or depends on the person on the receiving end...
If someone is getting in your face, tone of voice, looking for a fight any put down can prob start something. I almost got into a stomping match at work for someone calling me a "douchebag" (just having a bad day), called HR and ultimately quit as a result.
So its not like it doesnt have bite. :D |

Back up, someone ELSE called YOU a douchebag at the office and you were the one to leave? That seems a bit backwards. |

lol so true
and if your looking to truly befuddle someone, try the unconventional 'moonface' insult when someone least expects it. the person receiving this insult wont know what hit them. |
