Using the TI desktop on a different system...

I currently have my Virus Desktop installed on my PC with all the drivers and the new OS etc... However, if I wanted to use it on my laptop for a while, would it cause a problem if I installed everything on to the laptop and started using it? I could still easily plug it into different systems without any hassle, right? Cheers :D |

not an issue, i do it with my polar all the time. the trick is to make sure you plug in to the same USB slot every time... |

If you do plug it into another slot, you can choose automatic install. Some *tudum" 's later you're set. |

I'm actually having a serious problem, one which has been occurring ever since I bought the Virus - it doesn't play in sync and it's very glitchy. It's nothing to do with PDC, it's when I actually play something (take an arp for example), it plays in sync for a moment and then all of a sudden it goes crazy... I used to use it on FL Studio 8, however, I heard the new OS didn't work with it, therefore I switched to Ableton on my Laptop. Even with the switch, there is no improvement, I even downloaded the older 2.7.2 OS to see if it would make a difference (haven't actually tried the new OS with ableton).
Anyway, it really pisses me off. I know it's my problem, though after spending so much money on it I thought things would of been simpler :( Any help at all would be cool... Cheers. |

Gonna just use the same thread to ask a totally different question...
Has anyone ever had any expierience with Sonic Academy? They offer some productions lessons and was just wondering if they're worth it or not.

P.s. Any answers to my second question would be brilliant :) |

2.7.3 is out so try upgrading to that. As for the Virus out of synch, lots of people have had this issue. You would probably have more success posting and reading up on the Infekted Forums
For me it was completely disabling the bright white BPM LED and turning down the brightness of the existing LEDs that did the trick. Sounds crazy yes but it is what finally got rid of all my synch issues with my TI. Good luck! |

Do you have a lot of gear connected to your USB ports? This is the main reason of glitches.
For the little amount of money it costs, buy a pci USB card and connect only the TI on it. It can make a LOT of difference since you have a dedicated USB channel. At least worth a try. |

On my Desktop PC, I had my mouse connected through USB and that was all.
On the laptop theres nothing connected through USB apart from the Ti itself. Cheers for the help :) |

Alan some laptops have an issue with their USBs... some are direct port (goes right into the motherboard) and others are on a HUB. the TI has a lot of problems when using a HUB so read your manual and make sure none of the USB slots you're using are part of a hub :)
i'm also on ableton 7 and have not experienced the sync issues you are, that sucks : / |

Thanks for mentioning that. I totally forgot that I also bought a PCI USB card with the NEC chipset as recommended on the TI forums and only have my TI plugged into that. |
