I Dj'd for Obama in May 07'

Hello,

Im sure this thread title seems really out there, but I assure it is true! I used to live in Washington DC where I had the true honor to DJ for Barack Obama using Ableton Live.

In 2007, I was at a show doing mash-up's with dance music and inspirational speakers like Martin Luther King. Someone from the Obama campaign heard me and asked if I could do that with his speeches. I said of course... and that lead me to three gigs using my Powerbook, M-Audio controllers, and Ableton.

The biggest of them all was in May 07' @ H20 Nightclub in Washington DC where I played a two hour set of funky house and trance, fusing the music with Barack Obama's speeches. Then secret service stepped in the Dj Booth with me, for Obama was five feet in front of me.

I think I am one of the few, if only DJ on the planet that was able to open for the President of the United States.

Just wanted to share this expirience!

Very best,
Ross Lara

Oh plenty of people know, I just wanted to share it here in the DJ Promotion section of TA - being that I used Ableton like a lot of others here.

That's pretty cool man. Did they pay you anything?

Cool story man. Not an Obama supporter by any means but that is definitely an awesome story.

That's was a bit harsh.

Nice one Ross, great story. Something to tell the grand kids that one!

A bit pointless to post in the DJ promo section without a d/l link for the set. No?

Boasting is fine and well, but I could really care less unless we got something to listen to.
