California State Sales Tax Increase
View this Thread in Original format

Wow, because it's required by law for California to balance its budget, the Gov wants to increase sales tax by 1.5%!!! Among other things.

That'll make Alameda County's sales tax up here 10.25%

It'll only pass with 2/3rds vote in the legislator and of course first thing they all say is that it won't pass, but the budget MUST be balanced and in the end it might take these new proposed measures.

Ugh!

I hate to rain on your parade, but tax increases are the only way we are going to fix in the short term. In the long term we have to dump programs that are going nowhere, save money where we can, and fix our state system.

A part of his plan is to also cut $2.5 billion from education.

They're all scumbags anyways... I'll never forget just going to one a couple months ago with the airbag panel popping out and you could see the airbag inside yet the salesman tried to explain to me that "the sun caused the panel to pop out" while you could see old paint hidden in the back and obvious signs of repair :stongue:

Not sure why cars can't be sold through costco/department store-type places where you get to pick what you like and not have to deal with someone lying and begging you to buy from them. It would be interesting to know the history of why new cars can only be bought at these 'dealerships'. Buying from private parties is much better and they're always willing to help you with the price and paperwork

You're right. Joe Biden says it's our "Patriotic Duty" to pay more taxes. That it's time to "Jump in the game." And do you think Obama's going to put more money in your pockets? Get used to it for 2 years.

I wish Costco supplied the 'Mercedes Smart Car' I seen on the strip last week.
