How do I Synthesize this particular sound?

Ive been trying to come up with a lush synth lead reminiscent of the chorus in Tom Colontonio's Modern Madness, and Headless Horseman. Also its the main driver in PvD's "Get Back", "Far Away" and "We Are Alive" (I know Old School tunage). Its pretty common, i even hear it in some AvB tunes like "Love You More". I just really need to figure that out for a project im working on.

Any help would be much appreciated. :toothless

Thanks In Advanced.

Darren.

If it's the sound I am thinking you can make this using a distorted saw wave with the resonance turned all the way up plus the cut-off at zero, and a very snappy amp and filter envelope (think TB-303 stabs ran through a distortion box).

If you post an example I can probably be more specific.

Examples:

You can hear the keys in played in this tune by themselves in the beginning and throughout the song.
PvD - We Are Alive

Also in the following tune, they keys are played the entire tune, but are in a solo at 1:39. Although I love all the lush sounds in this one.
AvB - Love You More

Same thing in this tune @ 1:28 you can hear the solo.
PvD & Guiseppi Octivani - Far Away

I may be asking a n00b/novice question, but i can't tell if its a distorted piano, or a different type of synth....

I hope this helps.

Okay. I had only checked out the Armin van Buuren one when I made my original post and I see it's not the sound I mentioned.

That sound can be made pretty easily; a popular way to do it is detune two oscillators seven semitones apart (ala Synaesthaesia or Xpander) or just play intervals. The latter gives you more control as since you can pick your notes.

If I get time tomorrow I'll make a patch.

Do you mean the pluck?

That's mostly about the vol envolope -> quick attack, fall off fast...

I guess that could be considered a pluck.

yeah sounds heaps like a pluck just with reverb or something...

Very standard and very simple sound to make. 1 oscillator set to a sawtooth waveform. instant attack and release (volume and filter envelope). little amp and filter decay. Turn up filter envelope amount and play with cutoff and resonance to taste. The key is to play chords and not single notes.

If you have FL Studio 7 you can use these for the 3xOsc:

http://peregrin.jmu.edu/~watkindj/u...tervals_1_1.mp3
http://peregrin.jmu.edu/~watkindj/u...sc_-_single.fst
http://peregrin.jmu.edu/~watkindj/u...Osc_-_fifth.fst

The first one uses various interval and the second just fifth intervals.
