REVIEW: Sasha @ The Guvernment (pg. 5)

I got there at like around midnight. DJ Three played a decent warmup set. I recognized Adam Beyer and Agaric- California Gold being played at one point.

I thought Sasha would come on at 1:30, and I was getting paranoid and feeling he wasn't there. But he came on late like his classic self and I should have known better at like almost 2 AM. I thought the first hour dragged on, didn't really do too much different from what Three was doing. He really needed to start out harder. I heard Minilogue- Jamaica (Dubfire Remix) and if anyone knows this song, it's really stripped down and not what I wanted to hear at this point. It's a good song, but just not for the time.

But the tempo did go up a lot in the 2nd hour and finally I heard some interesting songs with melodies and some singing (gasp!) too. I recognized Shakedown- At Night's accapella playing over some beat and of course Ladytron- Destroy Everything You Touch (Invol2ver Remix). Interesting to listen to how he manipulated it and played around with the song in the beginning. He turned up the bass really loud for that one too. But then it sorta went downhill from there.

I thought he could have played better. It was really up and down, not consistent. Luckily the night was $20 and there was room to dance. I too noticed a different sort of crowd at Guv...perhaps Tiesto took away some of the regulars at Circa. I left at 4:30, I was getting tired and I kept for things to pick up but I had to get outta there.

Put a limit on the # of ing asians entering guvernment, i dont give a about racial profiling, half of them at least dont belong there for many reasons:

1) theyre over 40 years of age
2) theyre cracked out on drugs
3) they have no clue who the dj is, ever
4) they have no clue why theyre there or what EDM is

They are a massive burden to club goers, get them the out.

You're an idiot. As much as I hate seeing them at the club. They still paid the same price as everyone else. To the business they're another paying patron. Who cares if they're older than 40 years old? Just cause you're over 40 doesn't mean you can't have fun. And not everyone is a DJ whore that they need to go there for the DJ. If you don't like the crowd then go somewhere else, no one is forcing you to go.

That'd a monumental mistake

Soon as I heard this coming in...mentalness.

Coleurs,

Wow. The end of the night. Closing time. Bare dancefloor. Sasha decides to do what he does best and just loop...mix...layer...and repeat. I just stood at the back of the room and stared in awe. Waiting for a beat to drop...nothing but pure melodies for the first 5 minutes.

Brillance. Art. Sasha.

In both rooms at that!

YM beats coming out of the Acid lounge, while Sasha is building up his melody based Coleurs in the main room at closing time.

Wow. :)

the people that go for hip hop in the orange room... definitely aren't.. nor are the ones that go for mash up in the drink, or rock in the d'luxe.
