Review: Shapeshifters @ Mod CLub

well unfortunately to my dismay, this was probably one of the crappier events i've been to.

I never ended up getting the rogers free ticket thing to work for free tickets, and my friends use telus, so we ended up paying the $20 fee. I have no problem paying $20 for a stellar event, but the clincher was 'no one' showed up. The club was a ghost town. paying a cover that high for a venue thats dead really blew, i went through the night feeling like i was at a house party (no pun intended) opposed to a club.

Andy played an awesome set, i love his style, and enjoyed his set. but when hes playing to an empty room for the duration of his time, it really didn't inspire me to want to dance much. We actually left around 1230 to one of the locals bar to grab a bite and hoped it would pick up later. when returning there was still no more than 80 people in the place, and shapeshifters were on. There set wasn't 'bad' but really nothing great either. I think we left just after they played the 2008 remix of lola's theme (i liked hearing this song again, and looove the original, but i don't know, this remix is rather blah imo) we left around 2:30 to what was probably one of the most unfulfilling club nights in my clubbing history (but thats only because i usually only hit an event once a month or so and really try to handpick a good one).

Lack of crowd was probably due to: tiesto, sasha, and lee burridge

too many good events for one evening it seems

Wow... that's too bad.

I was wondering how this night went.

I think it would still affect things a bit... people know they are going to party hard on Saturday, so typically they will try to save money/energy by not going out Friday.

Yeah, unfortunately I was there too until about 1:15 when the shapeshifter dj came on. Then I left hoping to salvage the night. But I dont think Tiesto and others on Saturday had anything to do with the low turnout on Friday.

answer: burridge, sasha, tietso

While they may have been on different nights, I think most people generally do a "Pick 1 event for the weekend". I know that I usually do - for reasons of budget and energy. If there is a big night on Sat that I'm really looking forward to, I'll generally stay in or do a low-key night on the Friday.

I simply dont have the energy/money/interest in hitting up multiple parties during the weekend.

im surprised it wasn't more full given they had those rogers / fido giveaways

I really wanted to go but wasn't feeling too great...it's a shame the place was dead....I think those guys have a lot of talent.
