vs

Which is better album in your opinion and why? For me, it's a tough one...GU# 28 Shanghai has a very strong CD1 but a weak CD2 IMHO. OTOH, CD1 and CD2 of The Master Series V2 are both very very good but don't quite touch Shanghai CD1 IMHO. So I dunno, it's a toss up for me ATM. |

| Nick Warren's Shanghai was ing ACE, that's my official view :D. Do you honestly think CD2 is weak? |

Nice one...
I would definitely go with GU: Shanghai. When Masters volume 2 was strong, it was really strong, but had a number of moments on both discs where it felt like things were just chugging along uneventfully.
I felt Shanghai, on the other hand, was consistently solid on both discs, and was infused with some outstanding builders and peak-time Prog. that just made it a more overall enjoyable listen from start to finish. |

Well, maybe "weak" was too strong(pardon the pun) a word, but I just can't get into it for some reason. The first half is good. But it ends with such a slow ambient tone. Maybe I need to give it a few more listens. CD1 is simply a MASTERPIECE OTOH! It's flawless in my opinion. Jacob Todd & Kelly Noland's Somehow is probably my favorite song of all time, along with the absurdly beautiful Don't Forget About Me by Way Out West. I could listen to CD1 literally everyday and not get tired of it. |

Yeah CD1 is definatly hot, but I love CD2 just as much, including the more "ambient tone" towards the end......to be more specific, finishing with "your touch" :eyes:. Still can't pin point exactly why either, the whole album is simply brilliant. |

| The masters series vol 2 is one of my favourite mix compilations. Haven't heard GU28 so can't really tell, but it will have to be a really good to beat Hernans mix. |

It's one of my favourite GU albums. Still sounds fresh today IMO.
Haven't heard the Cattaneo album. :o |

Hmmm... isamu, you wouldn't happen to be a big fan of Daytona and other assorted SEGA racing games, known for getting overly excited on video game message boards, would you?
(disregard this message if you have no idea what I'm talking about!) |

Shanghai, every day of the week. Both CDs are immense.
Has anyone heard his latest GU effort? Another master stroke, highly recommended |

6. Starecase - Vapour Trails
7. Seyton - The Drake Equation

| And of course I'm still listening to both of these albums on the regular. Shanghai Disc 1 still kicks butt but the last track is kinda meh. Masters 2 is still crazy hot all the way through though. |
