I am, sadly. The onion just twisted it all around (and it's not THAT pathetic) but they want people to not "promote" piracy. So they think that by people not sharing music that they have, that is obviously easily downloadable, that maybe people will go out and buy the music themselves. Everyone knows that as soon as music hits stores (or before), it's online ready to be downloaded at the click of a mouse. Music industry, evil.

I was writing a long-winded post here, but I know you are well aware of the reasons people do it. So yeah. They just need to pull that stick out of their ass and realize, this is not 1900 anymore.

I find it funny that the onion posts it now when we've been dealing with the riaa for weeks now at work with the same issue.

Going off of what Trish said, how in God's name would they even plan to enforce something like that? :stongue:

Exactly. :p

It's silly, really. They tell us to send new music to 2-3 different people 2 days before it comes out for reviews if they wish to give one, so I do that. It's part of my job and it's what I've been doing since February. They want us to stop doing that because it doesn't help with the piracy. Sometimes we send out unfinished copies (1 or 2 songs missing, no art work, sound might be a little off) but normally it's a polished copy. What were NOT suppose to do is post the music publicly and have to make sure the people we send it to wont do that.

Right, but it is also impossible to tell who did it. They could have made a copy for 1 of their friends and they posted it. Reasoning they always give out is the biggest crock of .

The music I send out makes it to torrent sites before I even send it to people to listen to, so I don't think I'd ever get blamed for anything neither would the person who I sent it to even if they did upload it somewhere. So it really is impossible to know on my end.

Ugh this is the exact reason why the industry needs to get their head out of their ass.
