Religion can be tricky, though. It really doesn't have to be but people make it so.

A couple with an age difference?

I won't date someone more than 10 years older (maybe a little bit less) than me. It's not that I find the age gap odd, but there is a good chance that someone who is 21 is at a different level (I would hope) than someone who is 31 and it would totally clash. It works in some relationships, good for them, but I wouldn't do it.

A so-called interracial couple?

No, thanks. If it happens I'm not opposed to it but I'm not LOOKING for it and it would be a selective list.

quote:
Inter-faith marriages?

Doesn't phase me. I wouldn't date anyone who was hardcore IN YOUR FACE WITH JESUS AND JESUS CAMP, though. Religion is an interesting topic to learn about and I wouldn't mine learning different ones. Can't convert me but I'd love to learn.

Would be much more fun than sitting at this desk here at work.

I do have Traktor installed on the work laptop, though... :stongue:

Differing religions with my significant other wouldn't bother me until she started trying to convert. I think the real problem lies with when you have children. Most of the typical families here in the South have a very strong, scheduled sunday that begins at church and ends at restaurants before they go home. I think with a conflict of religions, that would not be able to happen.

Well, clearly I have no problem with the age difference thing (:p) but it also depends on the people. I have met 23 year old girls who seem like they're really 15. It depends on where you are in your life, your culture, as well as how you were raised. For example someone who studied overseas, has family overseas, all siblings are older, etc; might have the mindset of someone older than themselves. I think 21/31 is a bad combination because 21 year olds (in the US) are thrilled because they can now drink, and party, and everything else but once you get past that... things could be great.

Inter-racial, I think is great. I think it's wonderful if you are in love, no matter if it's another race, or if is heterosexual, or homosexual.

Religion is a little tougher, but you can work it out. I mean, we celebrate both religions in our house, and judge neither for their beliefs. Just embrace the differences in religion and culture. My family has always celebrated different religions and firmly believes that everyone should be given the choice as to what to believe in.

Now, the tougher one, is politics. If there are different views in that. Which, that stuff might not normally arise in such a hectic and crazy pace if a black man didn't just get elected president. Getting attacked by your S.O.'s family because you voted a certain way, is difficult. Especially if they're spewing nonsense and conspiracy theories and crazy scenarios constantly. I can tell you this election put a BIG strain on a LOT of couples.

Would depend on how judgmental the two different religions are, no? I doubt I could date a girl who thought I deserved eternal torture for not believing in her god or who thought that faith trumped the findings of science. But I think I could date a Buddhist, Jew, or even a more tolerant type of Christian. Pretty much every religion has things I can appreciate in it, and if the person focused on those things (rather than, say, trying to convert me or condemning me to hell) then I don't see why I couldn't date her.

I really enjoy Traktor... actually, it's what I play out with. I think I'm going to get a Xone:2D to make my "mobile" setup a little simpler, though.

Oh, and:

These sum it up pretty well.

religion can be a deal breaker for me. It depends on what the partner wants. If they're cool with me the way I am, then that's cool. On the other hand, I was once interested in this girl who was in a Buddhist cult but being a Buddhist myself I thought maybe it could work. I went along to a the temple a few times but when I realized they had changed the words in the chants to refer to their own founder, I got the **** out. I realized I had no chance with this girl not matter how much I was attracted to her because she wanted me to be something I wasn't.

I'm not sure if somebody isn't willing to love you just the way you are at this moment, that they will ever really be able to love you.
