I picked up a blackberry bold 3 days ago. First off I have to say that feature-wise it's a large cut above my old 8800. The interface is gorgeous, the camera works great, and the internet browser is much improved. They even improved on little things like the clock app, which now has a nice 'bedside mode'.
However, right when I picked it up from AT&T, the trackball stoppped working correctly so I had to exchange it. The second one they gave me was working fine until it powered off unexpectedly today, deleting almost everything on the phone. Somehow a battery pull brought everything back again.
Although I really like the phone, I'm worried what problem is going to come up next.
Anyone else have issues with the Bold? |

Ive had the Bold a few months before it came out in Canada(we had it here first, in your face delayed-iphone release)....I havent had any problems yet. But having used blackberries for a while, trackballs are usually the first to go. The only thing you can do about it is invest in an extended warranty of some sort.
I find that you need to update every so often. The Bold has some few kinks its still working out software wise, so you need to check for any firmware updates, especially with extra apps(like the facebook app--which I heard RIM is still sorting out with the developers due to overheating issues). The battery removal reset I had to do on my Curve a few times because the bloody thing would delete text msges after a couple hours, even if I didnt check em.
So far Im loving it, GREAT phone, can do a load more stuff efficiently than the Iphone in my opinion of course =) Im itching to try out BlackBerry Storm but theres no GSM version coming out here till earliest first quarter 2009 :( |
