Well it's obvious from that YouTube video that she's completely delusional, so I guess you're right in asserting that stupidity really isn't the primary causal factor here.
It's evident, however, that from a young age this girl has had deep seated identity issues and never really got any sort of counseling she deserved. I think this is less a case of shattered dreams and more a case of a short-circuited brain.
Also, I'd like to argue that suicide has more to do with selfishness than anything else. |

Maybe she lied about her age at audition but the video caption said she was 27yrs old. The news clip said 30yrs old.

No, it doesn't. Some of the brightest people in all history commited suicide.
Take Alan Turing, for example. He was one of the most influential geniuses of the last century, yet couldn't cope with the prejudice he suffered for being gay.
Lawrence Kohlberg, who developed the moral development theories to have ever been systematised by men, also commited suicide because he had an incurable disease.
If only suicide were that simple. |

I agree with you regarding her issues, but as for the nature of suicide, I think the problem is much more subtle than that.
There is a strong social aspect to suicide, there's no disputing that: there's a surge in the number of suicides both when there's little social cohesion or when society is too strict on the individual. Thus, you could say it's the ultimate form of escapism in a strict society, and those left behind will naturally feel disappointed.
But, to say "suicide is X", whatever X is, just too simplistic a definition, given the complexity of suicide as a whole. |

What counts as "stupid" to you then? If you can be both brilliant and stupid, "stupidity" doesn't mean the same thing to both of us.
Besides, let's say you've got an incurable disease, and you can't deal with the pain - would you say that it is stupid to take your own life, like Kohlberg did?
Or, better yet, if you had to give your life to save someone else - which is a kind of suicide - would you simply dismiss it as stupidity as well?
