Question about the RIAA

| there's been a lot of talk about the RIAA trying to shut down AG on the boards recently and Iam just wondering what exactly this means. I mean the RIAA is the record industry association of America, so does this mean only american copywrited songs will get banned from being shared? If not what right does it have to interfier with foreign record labels policy? Also how can the RIAA speak out for other labels, some labels will no doubt feel fine about file sharing e.g. I know tiesto is fine about mp3 sharing so would that mean black hole songs would have to be filtered? In the end the individual record labels are the ones putting the effort into finding the artists, signing them up, promoting orginising distribution etc... so they should have the rights. How can one big fat corprate company speak out for all record labels? However if the RIAA is only banning american songs then what are you all worried about? The American music scene is and trance is non-existent there, no matter how many journolists start preaching about how much it is growing there. |

i think that the RIAA is speaking for all of the American labels that are not too fond of file sharing. since this program is running in the states i think that they are trying to stop all music from being shared within the USA and for foreign record companies who are against file sharing in the states...but honestly to say...if i was a producer and i had to promote myself by selling my cds and everyone got it for free, i wouuld be pissed off...but for others who arent against file sharing it would be perfectly fine...
i remember hearing that dj tiesto/blackhole recordings was NOT against file sharing...if so then why is theme from norefjell X'ed out???
o and also if the RIAA wins, they will be forced to charge people for their service like napseter or shut down entirely......which i definately hope doesnt happen because kazaa, winmx and all those other programs dont have hard to find trance songs...=/ |
