I love Johan...paid 50 bucks to dance rite behind him in VIP, my friend who is a rookie clubber was trying to give him requests...poking his leg, Johan looked down and was like wTH? LoL. I saw him @ AfterHourPower here in LA in mid May. Got his autograph and got to ask him when the next Airscape production is coming out...he said he was really busy with other stuff and didnt have a clue.

Songs I remember him playing

4 strings - into the night
Reeloop - ing Society (Kenji Ogura Remix) <--went nuts here
Svenson & Gielen - We Know What You Did (Johan Gielen Remix)
Members of Mayday - 10 in 1(PvD Remix)
Ferry Corsten - Punk
Dj Tieso - Urban Train (Cosmic Gate Remix)
Signum - Second Wave
Safri Duo - Played Alive (Airscape Remix)
Romanthony's Nightvision - Never (PvD's Late Night Club Mix)
Rank 1 - Awakening (Benecio Remix)

Those are some that I recognized...I wish he dropped RMB - Deep Down Below (Airscape Remix)
I would have gone  :eyespop:

He's cheese trance. He just spins anthem after anthem. His sets are bland & repetitive. Armin van Buuren...now he's a good dj, with a good choice in tracks...same with Ferry.

hmmm cheesy trance??? i dont know... i think he plays good . i especially like his T.E 2002 set.. it was bang'N!!! and he is a 'n awsome producer! i think he mixes both uplifting trax and hard trax in his sets(IMO). well, i have only heard couple sets from him and they were both way above par. oh and by the way... what is cheesy trance???.. is it uplifting, vocal, mainstream.? just wanted to know what everyones definition of cheesy trance is.

The tunes i listed were the ones i recognized, and ive heard a lot of tunes...the rest were all new or tunes i havent heard before...if Johan Gielen is cheese....whose not cheese? He played quite a few tracks that left me wonderin "whats the name of this track"

I dont think you can call anyone who makes productions like "We Know What You Did" or remixes like Mooge - China Girl (Svenson & Gielen Remix) Cheese...just because he plays great tracks.

for sure!!! Gielen has to be one of the tops djs ive heard....especially in the past year. Not many djs can produce AMAZING songs and be an oustanding uplifting dj!!! Just download Johan Gielen Live @ Trance Energy 2002 and it will show you his true skill and also features some of his songs.

quite frankly I'm tired of everyone on these boards calling everything CHEEEESSSSSSSE...... Just because some tracks have vocals, and are alittle bit on the lighter side doesnt mean their cheese. and also tracks that get alittle popular amoung non trance addicted people doesnt mean their cheese, it just means the artist did a good job of capturing a wider audience.

Johan Gielen is one of the craziest DJ's I've heard, he mixes hard and pounding trance, with some nice uplifting melodies. His mixes arnt seamlessly perfect, but they are still above average. His track selections seem to get the audience going, and I think he's a really great DJ. And his productions,, their another story. Sound of Silence (was that the name? i forget.. but ive got it on vinyl :tongue2 ) and We know what you did are amazing.

I personally think he's better than corsten and tiesto.. in terms of track selection for sure. mixing, he's probably close behind them both.. but whats more important, good tracks or outstanding mixing?

of course the tracks (I would hope  )

If you call this guy cheese, I'd hate to hear what you say about my local DJ's!!!! AHhahhaha ahahah.. DJ Danny D.. lol

DJ Chrono
if you want pure undergound un-cheesed tracks, go listen to some progressive. thats about the only genre i know that has stayed as far underground as any.

The Beauty of Silence :)

I think he's quite good. His Trance Energy 2002 set was amazing. His Recorded V2 CD was also very good :)
