We have one of those Roomba thingys... it's pretty damned good. We also have a Bissle (sp?) upright but you'd have to ask Mrs. Hazard about it.

BTW, if you have tile floors the Scoba (mop version of Roomba) kicks some serious ass... because mopping sucks.

Biz: The Dyson as rated by Consumer Reports is one of the best, if not the best.

I can't say that really. You are basically the same age as I.

It's not so much being old as I have a home full of hard wood floors and, frankly, I hate mopping them.

Tell me about it. I got excited about buying flatware, a rug and a coffee table. The fact that I think a vacuum is cool doesn't really surprise me in the least. :p

Ugh you're making me feel really old now.

I vouch for Dyson, but not at full price. Found one on Craig's list for $150 used only once, cause the guy didn't like it. Let's just say he was a tad light in the pants and very very critical of how much suction he needs in his vacuum ;)

Dude, it's fantastic. My kitchen is 500ish sq feet... the wife turns the scuba on before we head out somewhere and by the time we get home it's squeaky clean.

My girlfriend has one, It's fantastic. I think it's even more effective than mopping.
