Activision's not-so-secret DJ Hero game has seemingly been name-dropped yet again, and dated for release in Summer 2009.

According to a supposed e-mail newsletter from superstar DJ, Tiesto, the dutch artist - who's often referred to as the biggest DJ in the world - will provide tracks especially for the unannounced Guitar Hero spin-off.

"We are proud to announce that Tiësto has teamed up with the game developer Activision and their latest project DJ Hero," reads the newsletter.

Activision will release a special Tiesto edition of DJ Hero - similar to Aerosmith and Metallica versions of Guitar Hero - which will contain classic Tiesto productions "as well as new music composed especially for the game."

Tijs 'Tiesto' Verwest said of the deal: "I am very excited about this! I think this is a great way to introduce people into Djing. Maybe they realize it's not as easy as they think. I am sure this brings new fans to the scene, dance music is not far from hip-hop for example. Hopefully the music I have composed appeals to all kinds of fans!"

We're still waiting for confirmation of the news from Activision UK.

DJ Hero first surfaced in a trademark earlier this year, and was later backed up by an accidental confirmation from the Guitar Hero: World Tour team.

It's said to utilise a new turntable-style controller and a setup that has coloured icons scrolling around a virtual on-screen record.

lol. i mean, wtf?! i thought people on guitar hero was lazy jokers, but this has a whole new meaning.. whats the in point? might as well learn to mix properly rather than 'press x repeatedly to beat match'.

Really makes me cringe that someone like tiesto would endorse this. words can not express how lame this is.

Laugh or cry, i just don't know!

This doesn't surprise me in the slightest to be honest.

I'm actually excited that EDM will be getting this kind of publicity.

And will Tiesto become the first DJ sell-out? I wonder how long until the Tiesto action figure comes out. Push the button to drop Traffic!!!

I'm not.

I'm really hoping DJ Hero does not become nearly as popular as Guitar Hero has.

Why? Not everyone has the skills or time to play a guitar. Likewise, not everyone has the skills nor the time to be a DJ. Plus, that is expensive.

What's wrong with an average person having some fun with a game without you tards going off at them. I've seen plenty of people who enjoy guitar hero so why wouldn't they enjoy this?

Oh right, it's Tiesto so let's all jump on the bashing bandwagon.
While we're at it let's just throw the rest in too:
Trance is dead
ASOT
Deadmau5

why not just listen to your favourite guitar track and use an air guitar or broom to satisfy your child like need to pretend? If you really have the need to press a red button so the track doesnt have a 'clink' sound over the top of it, then you my friend are one sad bastard.

guitar hero is for kids, literally.

dj hero is for sad ing gimps, literally.

Your post it totally redundant anyway...
If you dont have the skills to beat match, then what makes you think you can press a button repeatedly in time or whatever on dj hero?

expensive? have you seen the price of guitar hero and all the plastic crap you get with it?

the reason youve never seen 'tards' go off with people playing guitar hero is simple.. they're the ones playing it.

and no this isnt a tiesto bash u ing gimp, my post says i can't believe tiesto is doing it.. meaning i wouldnt of thought he would of done something like this. if i wanted to bash him i would of said 'typical tiesto'.

at the end of the day the whole 'hero' concept is lame -south park hit the nail on the head.

Have you ever heard of casual gaming? The sort of gaming that dominates the market? Apparently not. Get off your elite high horse and step inside the shoes of a normal person

You've seen nothing of the game, there is no solid examples of it. You have virtually no info about it yet you've already reviewed it at 1/10. Well done champ...

Nell
well we know what you're getting for christmas next year don't we. better sell up all your vinyl and cds so you can mix the same 10 tracks over and over and then pay £50 for additional content (5 more tracks)

A lot of "real" DJs are lazy jokers as well, especially now that Ableton has removed even the barrier of beatmatching.

[And no, I am not saying that Ableton is all bad. I own the thing after all...]
