the macy's parade thing is ing creepy. ugly fat townies from nowhere-land come to watch wholesome fictional characters and lip syncing whores on ugly ass floats with really corny, family-friendly music playing the entire time.
anyway. i am spending it with my parents, my brother and my cat. my best friend might come over later and my brother's best friend for sure is (which blows because he's annoying as ). |

| I simply don't understand the US fascination with Thanksgiving. Sure, we celebrate it in Canada but to us it's just a meal but you Yanks will fly across the country to be with your families for this. Why, it's just a harvest celebration... and pretty outdated at that, I mean do you really need to celebrate the harvest anymore... it's not like you have a scarcity of food (fatties). I could understand a harvest festival being a big deal in places where there isn't much food but it seems a little strange in a place where you have so much food that you have to burn it to keep the prices artificially high. |

Thanksgiving is just a harvest festival... pretty much every culture in the world has a harvest festival; Oktoberfest in Bavaria, Sankranthi in India, Samhain for the Celts (now a Wiccan harvest festival), Thanksgiving in the US and Canada.
Additionally, the Canadian Thanksgiving pre-dates your pilgrims by about 40 years. |
