From Resident Advisor
Mr C is selling his entire collection of vinyl, with a minimum asking price of £75,000.
The ex-Shamen frontman has cited his forthcoming move to LA—where he plans to pursue his acting career—as the reason behind the sale.
In these credit-crunching times, it seems uncertain that a fan may emerge with the necessary money to take the entire collection off his hands. A much more likely outcome would be that a speculative buyer (or group of buyers) would stump up the cash to split and re-sell the collection at a profit. At the minimum price of £75,000, the 15,000-strong collection works out at about £5 per record, but there are bound to be quite a few in there that would sell for much more.
Fans need not worry that this spells the end of Mr C's long and illustrious DJing career, however. He has been quoted as saying that he is "a new music DJ," and will continue to spin sets comprising of only new records during his stay in the US. |

I doubt too many brits have 75,000 quid to put up in this day and age, particularly with vinyl being worth next to nothing now. |

When I went to England, it took me forever to figure out that quid = pound |

Yeah, but you ain't no Mr. C.
Agreed though - $10 a record is a bit steep, considering I've been buying most of my used vinyl these days for anywhere from $0.50 to $3 a record.
So I guess $5 a record with a ten record minimum is a bit pricey, as well. |
